I grew up on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., as the oldest of four in a very musical and creative family, so it never occurred to me that I would end up with a career in science. My mother is a classically-trained opera singer, and my father sang back-up for Harry Belafonte, so our house was filled with sound of music, and I was performing along with my family as early as age eight. But somewhere between the late night rehearsals and the loud music and stage lights emerged in me a passion for animals and a quest for the answer to the question “Why?” that eventually led me to veterinary medicine.
And so began the dichotomy that is my life. I became a veterinarian and enjoy research, teaching and scientific discovery, but I married a local artist, John Ahee, and continue to perform with my younger sister. I am a true, transplanted Peach, but the sexy sounds of the city still beat in my heart. I love the sun and the sea and the sand, and my ideal day is one that I can spend soaking in all three, but only as long as there is a mall close by where I can indulge my obsession for four-inch heels. I hate horror movies, but love Halloween. I make my own line of natural gemstone jewelry, but think that diamonds are highly over-rated!
My husband and I have twin daughters, and we share our lives with a mini-menagerie that includes five dogs, seven cats, two birds and (at last count) three fish.

I enjoyed watching the show… Great job!
